Schokland

Schokland, a former island submerged by the Zuiderzee in 1859, became a polder in 1942, symbolizing Dutch resilience. The site contains over 100 excavated artifacts, including medieval tools and shipwrecks, which are cheaper to preserve than typical waterfront monuments. The 1995 flood control system here raised defenses by 3 meters.
