Gullfoss, Iceland
Gullfoss is part of Iceland's Golden Circle route alongside Thingvellir and Geysir. Gullfoss has a raw, vanishing-into-the-earth drama, plunging into a crevice 32 metres deep and 2.5 kilometres long. The Hvítá river drops in two stages, of 11 and 21 metres, and carries an average of 141 cubic metres per second in summer and 80 in winter.
