Google spent years building smart glasses that made every wearer look like a surveillance camera with legs. "Glassholes" became an actual word. Bars banned them. The $1,500 Explorer Edition launched in 2013 to techno-utopian hype and died by 2015 after people realized nobody wants to talk to someone who might be secretly recording them. Google pivoted it to enterprise β the tech equivalent of putting a failed product in witness protection.
