Isaac Newton

Newton unified terrestrial and celestial physics under a single mathematical framework, a feat that no scientist before him had achieved. His three laws of motion and law of universal gravitation explained everything from falling apples to planetary orbits with equal precision. Newton also invented calculus—independently of Leibniz—providing the indispensable language for describing continuous change.
