The Barrancas del Cobre in Chihuahua is a canyon system four times the volume of the Grand Canyon and home to the Rarámuri (Tarahumara) indigenous people who have inhabited its walls for over 1,000 years. The Chepe Express train journey from Chihuahua City to Los Mochis, descending from 2,400 metres in the sierra to sea level through 87 tunnels and 37 bridges, is the greatest rail journey in Mexico.
