Procida won the prestigious title of Italy's Capital of Culture in 2022, a feat achieved by only one other Italian island (Sardinia's Cagliari) in that decade. The island's pastel-colored houses and terraced lemon groves cover a mere 4.1 square kilometers, making it the smallest and most walkable destination compared to the sprawling #8 Stromboli. Its population density of 2,600 people per square kilometer supports 18 family-run trattorias serving 0.5-kilogram plates of local spaghetti alle vongole for €12—20% cheaper than the average Bay of Naples dining cost. Despite its size, Procida attracts 300,000 overnight stays annually, a figure that has grown 12% since its Capital of Culture year.
