Gorengan
Gorengan, a term encompassing various Indonesian deep-fried snacks, are a ubiquitous street food. These fritters are prepared with a variety of ingredients, such as banana (pisang goreng), tofu (tahu isi), tempeh, sweet potato, and cassava. Tahu isi, for example, often features a savory filling of shredded cabbage, carrots, and bean sprouts. The batter for these crispy treats commonly includes rice flour. While their affordability and widespread availability make them a popular choice for commuters and students, the high oil content means they are best enjoyed in moderation.
