Bus attacked with tear gas. Final moved to Madrid. 60M viewers. Most dangerous derby to attend.
The Superclásico between Boca Juniors and River Plate in Buenos Aires is the most intense domestic derby in the Americas and arguably the most dangerous to attend anywhere in the world. Boca represent the immigrant working class of La Boca; River represent the upper-middle class of Núñez. The 2018 Copa Libertadores Final between the two clubs — the first to be played over two legs — was moved to Madrid after Boca's team bus was attacked with tear gas by River fans outside El Monumental. Global audiences of 60 million watched the Madrid final.
