Pátzcuaro City Ofrendas
Pátzcuaro's week-long festival transforms the entire colonial city into a participatory Day of the Dead art installation, with ofrenda altars in every plaza, public building, and business. The Purépecha markets create the most commercially vibrant market culture associated with the holiday, selling marigolds, sugar skulls, and Day of the Dead bread. The event costs visitors about $20 per day on average.
