Huaquechula, Puebla Giant Ofrendas

Huaquechula's Giant Ofrendas are the most extreme immersive Day of the Dead displays. In this Nahua village, families who lost a loved one within the past year construct multi-room, multi-level ofrendas that visitors walk through, each packed with photos, food, favorite possessions, and marigolds. A single ofrenda can fill an entire room and cost over 50,000 pesos to build. This scale far outperforms #10 Tuxtepec's river ceremony, which focuses on a single evening spectacle rather than year-round preparation.
