Wuyishan National Park protects the world's most complete mid-subtropical forest on 9,001 km² of red sandstone peaks, hosting 3,000+ plant species—30% more than the average Chinese national park. Its biodiversity is exceptional, with 450 vertebrate species and 840 insect types. The park is also the smallest on this list, but its per-sq-km endemism rate outperforms Giant Panda National Park by 12%.
