Distilled since 1816 on the south coast of Islay in a complex of white-painted buildings overlooking Lagavulin Bay, this distillery produces one of the most characterful single malts in the world -- a deeply peated whisky with 35 parts per million of phenols that spends 16 years in ex-sherry casks. Its 16-year-old expression is so beloved that it became famous globally after being repeatedly referenced as Nick Offerman's favorite drink on the American television series Parks and Recreation.
