Brave New World — Aldous Huxley (1932)

Huxley's dystopia — a World State where citizens are conditioned from birth, social stability is maintained through pleasure and Soma drug rather than fear, and Shakespeare is banned as dangerously destabilising — is arguably more prescient than Orwell's. Written in the 1930s, it anticipated pharmaceutical mood management, social media dopamine loops, and the commodification of experience with extraordinary accuracy.
