China's Jiuzhaigou Valley covers 720 sq km in Sichuan province and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1992. Its tiered turquoise lakes, multi-level waterfalls, and snow-capped peaks draped in dense forest produce colours ranging from emerald green to deep cobalt blue due to mineral deposits and algae in crystal-clear waters. The valley is also critical giant panda habitat, connecting to the Wolong National Nature Reserve.
