Brazil's Amazon National Park (1974) covers 9,940 sq km at the confluence of the Amazon and Tapajos rivers. It protects a core section of the world's largest tropical rainforest, containing over 2,000 plant species, 550 bird species, and 300 fish species. Part of the Amazon Biosphere Reserve, it forms one of the most biologically diverse regions on Earth and a critical buffer against deforestation.
