Coca-Cola's 1997 Surge Soda, with its aggressive citrus flavor and neon green branding, was marketed as the ultimate extreme sports drink, containing 51 mg of caffeine per 8 oz. Discontinued in 2003, the original 16 oz can with the lightning bolt logo remains peak '90s energy drink culture, before energy drinks existed.
