Shenzhen Wetland Bird Watching — Inner Deep Bay (深圳内湾观鸟)
The Inner Deep Bay wetland on Shenzhen's western boundary with Hong Kong's Mai Po Ramsar site is one of the most important wintering grounds for migratory birds in East Asia, with over 320 species recorded. While Mai Po on the HK side requires permits, the Shenzhen side has public access points in Futian and Nanshan Districts for free birdwatching, particularly productive for Black-faced Spoonbills (listed as vulnerable), greenshanks, and egrets from October to March. Mafengwo birdwatching community users rate the experience 4.7/5 and recommend renting binoculars from the Mangrove Reserve visitor centre for CNY 30. Best combined with Shenzhen Bay Park cycling.
