The egg tart institution beloved by the late Governor Chris Patten β who visited so often the tarts became known as "Patten's Puffs" β has been baking its signature lard-crust custard egg tarts since 1954. The shell shatters and the custard wobbles; nothing in Hong Kong replicates the combination. Multiple locations now but the Lyndhurst Terrace original is the most atmospheric. Price: HKD 8-12 per tart.
