The Umeda Sky Building in Osaka's Kita district is one of Japan's most dramatic pieces of contemporary architecture β two towers connected at the 40th floor by a glass-floored "floating garden" observation ring that provides 360-degree unobstructed views of Osaka and on clear days to Kyoto. Admission to the Kuchu Teien Observatory is 1,500 JPY per adult and 700 JPY for children (approx. 75-35 HKD). The glass escalators connecting the towers at height are themselves a memorable experience for children. TripAdvisor reviewers consistently rate the night view from Umeda Sky as among Japan's best illuminated cityscapes, and the underground Takimi-koji retro dining street at the building's base recreates 1920s Osaka with excellent kushikatsu and okonomiyaki restaurants.
