Osaka Castle is one of Japan's most recognisable historic landmarks — a 16th-century fortress rebuilt in 1931 with modern earthquake-proof concrete but retaining its original tiered green-roofed silhouette above a massive moat and 5-kilometre park. Castle tower entry (elevator available) is 600 JPY per adult with children under 15 free (approx. 30 HKD) ; the museum inside traces Hideyoshi Toyotomi's unification of Japan with English-language displays. The surrounding park is entirely free and is Osaka's most popular cherry blossom picnic venue in spring. TripAdvisor reviewers rate the top-floor observation deck as the best free-to-use castle view in western Japan. The Nishino-maru Garden (200 JPY) with 600 cherry trees adds the best blossom viewing in the city during late March.
