The Guangzhou Opera House (广州大剧院) is one of Zaha Hadid's most celebrated buildings — a pair of irregular boulder-like forms clad in granite and glass on the Pearl River waterfront in Zhujiang New Town. Even without attending a performance, the building is a must-see architectural landmark, and the surrounding riverfront plaza is an excellent family evening stroll. Performances include international ballet, opera, and orchestral concerts (tickets CNY 80-880); the architecture is fully visible from outside for free. Mafengwo users rate it 4.8/5 and call it "one of the five most spectacular buildings in all of China." Adjacent to the Guangdong Museum and within sight of the Canton Tower.
