Cheung Chau Island
Cheung Chau is Hong Kong's most popular outlying island day trip for families, famous for its car-free streets, seafood restaurants, ancient Pak Tai Temple, and the annual Bun Festival. Children love cycling the island's flat perimeter path (bike hire from HKD 30/hour), and the two beaches (Tung Wan and Kwok Tsui) are excellent for swimming. Ferry from Central Pier 5; 35-55 minutes, HKD 29 adult / HKD 15 child. Outperforming Lamma Island in visitor numbers, Cheung Chau draws over 6 million visitors annually versus Lamma's 2 million.
