Nanling National Forest Park features one of China’s most biodiverse subtropical ecosystems, with over 2,000 plant species and pristine waterfalls cascading through ancient nanmu groves. Spanning the Guangdong-Hunan border, it serves as a premier hiking destination for Guangzhou and Shenzhen families, offering trails that range from 5 km to 15 km. It is faster than the average forest park in the region, with March-April azalea blooms drawing 30% more visitors than the typical peak season. However, from Hong Kong the 3-hour coach journey to Ruyuan County makes it better as an overnight trip. Best visited from September to October for milder temperatures and lower humidity.
