Amazon's stringent productivity tracking has led to widespread reports of warehouse and delivery staff avoiding bathroom breaks or resorting to urinating in bottles to meet their targets. This issue gained significant public attention when Amazon publicly denied and subsequently apologized for it in 2021. A 2018 survey conducted by the campaign group Organise, involving UK Amazon warehouse workers, revealed that 74% of respondents admitted to avoiding toilet use due to concerns about missing performance targets. Such policies, while aiming for efficiency, have raised serious questions about employee well-being and basic human dignity within Amazon's vast logistics network.
