Before its 2014 renovation, the old Stade Vélodrome was a nightmare of exposed seating, forcing fans to endure brutal Mistral winds, rain, and scorching sun with zero protection. This design failure caused an estimated 40% of spectators to abandon their seats during matches in poor weather, making simple attendance an endurance test.
