Accel was founded in 1983 and built its reputation on a 'prepared mind' approach - deciding which market it wants exposure to before it meets the founder. Its best-known cheque was the $12.7 million Series A into Facebook in 2005, and its London office has been the most durable US-firm presence in European venture, backing Spotify, Supercell and UiPath.
