North Korea beat Italy 1-0 at Ayresome Park in Middlesbrough, eliminating the two-time champions from the group stage — one of the most seismic upsets in World Cup history. Pak Doo-ik scored the only goal. In the quarterfinal against Portugal, they raced to a stunning 3-0 lead before Eusebio single-handedly dragged Portugal back to win 5-3 in one of the greatest comebacks ever.
