Cameroon 1990
The Indomitable Lions opened Italia 90 by beating defending champions Argentina 1-0 — with nine men after two red cards. Roger Milla, pulled out of semi-retirement at 38, scored four goals and became a global icon with his corner-flag dance celebrations. They reached the quarterfinals and were minutes from the semis before losing 3-2 to England in extra time.
