This indigo-blue, 38-room Straits Chinese merchant mansion, built in the 1880s by the so-called Rockefeller of the East, has been meticulously restored and now operates as a boutique hotel. The guided tours reveal its extraordinary carved timber screens, hand-painted Cantonese tiles, and the feng shui principles that governed every architectural decision. With 80% of original materials preserved, it's a rare living museum that houses guests overnight.
