Sasak Village of Sade

Sasak Village of Sade offers the most authentic glimpse into traditional island life. Unlike the more commercialized Pottery Village of Banyumulek, Sade preserves a living museum where over 700 Sasak residents still live in thatched-roof lumbung rice barns. Here, over 90% of families own handlooms, producing intricate songket textiles that take up to three months to complete. The houses, made of mud and cow dung, are rebuilt every five years.
