Celestron NexStar 8SE
8-inch GoTo scope. 40,000-object database. The serious amateur's workhorse.
The Celestron NexStar 8SE is the gold standard of computerized telescopes for serious amateurs, delivering stunning 8-inch Schmidt-Cassegrain views of planets, galaxies, and nebulae. Its NexStar GoTo mount automatically locates and tracks over 40,000 objects, and setup takes just 10 minutes. The single-arm fork mount is surprisingly portable for an 8-inch scope. At $1,500, it costs three times more than the #2 Sky-Watcher Dobsonian 8", but the automated tracking and compact design convert casual stargazers into lifelong astronomers. Optical performance is 30% sharper than the typical entry-level Schmidt-Cassegrain, with pinpoint star images even at high magnification.
