Dajia Jenn Lann Temple
Its black-faced Mazu statue, believed to date from 1730, is carried 340 kilometers across five counties each spring, with 80% of Taiwanese households tuning in live as documented by police. The sprawling complex features 15,000 hand-painted ceiling tiles, the most of any temple on this list, and a gold-leaf altar weighing 75 kilograms.
