Taitung Balloon Festival
The Taitung Balloon Festival lifts off at dawn with over 30 hot-air balloons painting the Luye Highland against the coastal mountains, making it Taiwan’s premier aerial spectacle. In 2025, the event featured special-shaped balloons, including a giant panda and a baby Yoda. Each session begins with a simultaneous inflation, followed by tethered rides for visitors; around 50,000 passengers took flight last year. Compared to Mid-Autumn Moon Festival, this event provides a more active outdoor experience, though it attracts fewer family groups.
