Alishan
Alishan's sunrise view from its 2,483-meter peak, famous for the sea-of-clouds phenomenon, is a natural spectacle. The narrow-gauge railway, built in 1912 and spanning 71.4 kilometers, carries 1.5 million passengers annually through ancient cypress forests, with trees aged up to 3,000 years. This forest ecosystem covers 1,400 hectares, and includes 25 species of native birds. The sea-of-clouds occurs on 200 days per year on average.
