Isabel Fernandez won Olympic gold in the 63kg judo category at the Sydney 2000 Olympics, becoming Spain's first ever Olympic champion in judo. She was also a world champion in 1999 and four-time European champion, establishing herself as the dominant figure in her weight category during the late 1990s and early 2000s. Her legacy in Spanish judo is immense, and she went on to become a national team coach, developing the next generation of Spanish judoka.
