Lamine Yamal became the youngest player to score at a European Championship when he curled a stunning equaliser against France at Euro 2024 — aged 16 years and 362 days — the day before his 17th birthday. Spain won Euro 2024, with Yamal winning Player of the Tournament. He had made his Barcelona debut in 2023 at 15, the club's youngest ever first-team player. By early 2026, aged 18, he had already accumulated 6 La Liga goals and 17 assists in a single season and was winning comparisons with the young Messi. Barcelona regard him as their most important asset.
