The sandstone pillar formations in Hunan Province, China, inspired the floating mountains in James Cameron's Avatar—and Cameron admitted it. The park officially renamed one pillar "Avatar Hallelujah Mountain" in 2010, and its 3,000+ quartzite sandstone pillars, many exceeding 200 meters, make it taller on average than #1 Antelope Canyon's 40-meter walls. The glass-bottomed Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon Bridge, suspended 300 meters above the valley floor, adds another viral layer, attracting 3 million visitors annually—a 25% increase since 2015.
