Body-on-frame, locking rear diff. Built to outlive civilizations.
The 4Runner is the overlander's sensible choice: body-on-frame construction, a proven 4.0L V6, part-time 4WD with a two-speed transfer case and locking rear differential. The TRD Pro adds Fox internal bypass shocks, a front skid plate, and TRD-tuned springs with a quarter-inch lift. It's not fast, it's not fancy, and that's the point. Fourth-gen 4Runners from 2005 are still crossing the Pan-American Highway. Toyota builds these things to outlive civilizations.
