Mitsubishi Delica

Japan's cult 4WD van is the overlander's wildcard. The Delica Space Gear combines a Super Select 4WD system with a mid-engine layout that puts weight over the drive wheels. It seats seven, sleeps two with the rear seats folded, and has more ground clearance than a RAV4. Right-hand drive JDM imports from the '90s have become the darlings of the van-life overlanding scene — ugly, capable, cheap to fix, and utterly charming. The Delica goes where Sprinter vans fear to tread.
