Stellenbosch Wine Region

Stellenbosch, established in 1679, is South Africa's second-oldest town and the heart of a wine region producing over 20% of the country's annual harvest, yet it produces 15% less than the average rival region in France. More than 150 wine estates dot the surrounding Boland Mountains, offering world-renowned Pinotage and Chenin Blanc varieties; the region attracts over 500,000 wine tourists annually, 25% more than the runner-up, Franschhoek, to its Cape Dutch homesteads and harvest festivals.
