Hakone
Nestled within the breathtaking Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park, Hakone offers some of Japan's most iconic views of Mount Fuji, particularly across the serene Lake Ashi. While visibility can be challenging, often only around 50% of the year, early mornings in winter offer a 70%+ chance of clear sightings, outperforming other seasons. The town is celebrated for its traditional onsen hot spring ryokan inns, providing a unique cultural experience. Art enthusiasts will appreciate the Hakone Open-Air Museum, Japan's first open-air museum, which showcases approximately 120 sculptures by renowned artists like Rodin, Picasso, and Henry Moore amidst a stunning backdrop of forested mountains. The museum's collection boasts over 2,000 works in total.
