The Kimberley
Covering 424,500 sq km of remote Western Australia, the Kimberley is one of the world's last great wildernesses, dwarfing Kakadu's 19,804 sq km by more than 20 times. The Bungle Bungle Range in Purnululu National Park features beehive-shaped sandstone domes with 350-million-year-old striped patterns visible from 800-meter air tours. Its 13,000-year-old Aboriginal rock art is significant, while tidal movements of 10 meters carve 100-kilometer gorges through horizontal falls.
