Great Barrier Reef
The Great Barrier Reef spans 2,300 kilometers, making it 60% longer than the runner-up coral system, with 2,900 individual reefs and 900 islands. A UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1981, it supports 1,500 fish species and 4,000 types of mollusk, hosting 2 million visitors annually. This biodiversity is 10 times richer than the typical tropical reef.
