At 180 million years old, the Daintree Rainforest is Earth's oldest surviving tropical ecosystem, predating the Amazon by 130 million years. Spanning 1,200 sq km in Far North Queensland, this UNESCO site harbors 30% of Australia's frog, marsupial, and reptile species within its dense canopy. Unlike Kakadu's open wetlands, the Daintree's closed forest delivers a prehistoric immersion, with 12,000 insect species per sq km.
