Grand Teton National Park, in Teton County, Wyoming, was established on February 26, 1929. An NPS geologic inventory says Congress enlarged the boundaries on September 14, 1950 to incorporate much of Jackson Hole National Monument, increasing the park to 310,044 acres. The same page says the Teton fault is a normal fault extending more than 40 miles along the eastern base of the range. A foundation document quoted there says the range rises up to 7,000 feet above the valley floor. The National Park Service's 2025 ranking is more specific: 3,800,648 recreation visits, eighth among national parks.
