Lassen Peak, a plug dome volcano that erupted violently in 1915, is the only place in the lower 48 states where all four types of volcanoes can be seen in one park. Its hydrothermal features rival Yellowstone in geological drama at a fraction of the crowds, with fewer than 500,000 annual visitors.
