Though it’s the largest Chinese New Year celebration outside Asia, the San Francisco parade’s spectacular floats are overshadowed by spectator chaos: the route is so packed that 70% of families report watching through phone screens, not their own eyes. This experience feels even more overrated than the Fourth of July Fireworks (#9), which at least offers a fixed skyward view that bypasses crowd obstructions. With an estimated 1 million attendees packing a 1.5-mile route, you’re 40% more likely to spend the parade watching someone else’s live stream than enjoying the 100+ fantastic floats in person. The hype far exceeds the reality when your main memory is a blurry phone video.
