Reformer Pilates for Strength
Reformer Pilates is overhyped as a strength-building alternative to weight training, but EMG studies show it produces 40% less muscle activation than traditional resistance exercises like squats or deadlifts for the quadriceps. While it excels in rehabilitation and core stability, it is slower than the average strength workout for building muscle. Compared to #5 (CrossFit), it fails to deliver comparable power gains.
