Christopher Nolan's reputation as an intellectual blockbuster auteur obscures his weaknesses: wooden dialogue, underdeveloped female characters, and emotional coldness. Nolan is overrated because his plots are puzzles to be solved, not stories to be felt; characters like the female lead in Interstellar (2014) have less than 10 minutes of screen time, paling compared to Wes Anderson's ensemble work.
