Xerox PARC
Xerox PARC invented the future of computing in a single decade. Established in 1970, this lab created the graphical user interface, the computer mouse, Ethernet, the laser printer, and object-oriented programming—technologies that collectively form the backbone of modern interaction. Its 1979 laser printer alone spurred a billion-dollar industry. Steve Jobs famously licensed the GUI in 1979 after a visit, acknowledging PARC as the origin of the PC era.
